Do you realize the power inherent in your cycle? Are you in tune with that power on a daily, weekly, monthly basis?

If your answer to either of these questions is no, it is NOT your fault. Our education system and society at large has failed us. In fact they have lied to us, implying and outright telling us that our cycles signify weakness, that we are fragile creatures, that we are lesser than. We get the message that suffering just comes with the territory of being a woman.

Which is why so many of us resign to living with PMS, menstrual cramps, painful ovulation, mood swings, breast soreness, heavy bleeding, and other life disrupting symptoms that f*ck with our sense of self. We see our mothers, sisters, and friends suffering too. And we sigh, collapse into ice cream containers, and chalk it up to our lot in life.

But the stigma, shame and suffering around our cycles is entirely unnecessary. No, it is not part of the territory. Actually its a cry for help from our bodies, minds, & spirits. The intelligent wisdom we posses allows for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional pain to be an alarm system for when things are out of alignment and need our attention.

Unfortunately the majority of traditional doctors are not trained to solve the root causes of these misalignments when it comes to menstrual health. This is exemplified by the average 10 years that it takes for a woman to be properly diagnosed with endometriosis and the lack of research around this. Oftentimes, gynecologists will suggest “fixing” our cycles with hormonal birth control, which in reality does more harm than good for our bodies. By causing our bodies to mimic menopause, hormonal birth control introduces synthetic hormones into our bloodstream while blocking our access to natural estrogen and progesterone levels. These incredibly natural important hormones provide many health benefits that impact our minds and bodies including bone density, fertility and overall health.

Do you see why we cannot have a conversation about Pussy Power without addressing menstrual cycles yet?

It’s crucial that we take it upon ourselves to heal our relationships with our cycles. Because no one else will do it for us. It’s time to take the reigns on this one.

In your decision to heal your relationship with your cycle, accept that you are a cyclical being, and reclaim the inherent power in being a menstruating individual, you are part of a revolution. A revolution that says we don’t have to deny our natural femininity in order to be worthy or powerful.

In choosing to eradicate suffering from your body, you are being an embodiment and example for the women around you, healing your ancestral lineage of suffering, and ensuring that future generations do not have to repeat these same patterns.
